Payroll Specialist Responsibilities:
- Mathematical Proficiency: Payroll calculations involve various mathematical operations, such as calculating wages, taxes, and deductions. A Payroll Specialist should be comfortable with numbers and possess strong mathematical skills.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy is crucial in payroll processing. Payroll Specialists must meticulously review data, verify information, and ensure that all calculations are error-free.
- Knowledge of Payroll Software: Familiarity with Paycom payroll software and tools is essential. Payroll Specialists often use software to input data, generate paychecks, and track employee hours.
- Understanding of Tax Laws and Regulations: Payroll Specialists need to stay informed about federal, state, and local tax laws. They must accurately withhold taxes, report earnings, and comply with legal requirements.
- Time Management: Handling payroll for an organization involves strict deadlines. Payroll Specialists should be adept at managing their time efficiently to meet payroll processing schedules.
- Communication Skills: Payroll Specialists interact with employees, managers, and other departments. Clear communication is necessary to address inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and provide accurate information.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Payroll issues can arise unexpectedly. Payroll Specialists should be able to troubleshoot problems, identify discrepancies, and find solutions promptly.

Qualifications
Job Qualifications:
- A successful Payroll Specialist candidate will have at least 2 years of payroll functions experience and be familiar with Paycom Payroll software.
- Excellent knowledge of finances including accounting principles and practices
- Ability to manage multiple projects or assignments at one time and ability to multi-task
- Thorough research and problem-solving skills
- Meeting deadlines while maintaining compliance and regulatory standards
- Capable of providing a balanced and common-sense approach to routine and complex issues
- Excel at working well while under pressure
- Will train the right person
